| Steps to purchase and install TagIt | ||

Please note that two downloads (A & C) are required
for this program to work! |

For future sales all you need to do is the steps in yellow (F & J)! |

| A. | Purchase TagIt through our e-commerce site. (Regular price is $24.95. Ask your consignment sale for a discount code* good for a 20% discount. Most buyers select the Instant Download option.) Create an account with your own password. Payment for your order is made through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can use a credit card. | |
| After payment through PayPal click on the option to return to our e-commerce site. You should be able to download the TagIt program files. | ||
| (If you are not returned to the e-commerce site, you may have to log in to your account, enter your username and password, and download from your order. You can do that by repeating this step. Need additional help?) | ||

For PC users only. Mac users should ask the sale if there is an alternative. |

| B. | Save the download to your computer and run the TagIt installation program by (double) clicking on the file. The file name of the downloaded installation program is tagitsetup.exe. (Use the default directories suggested by the installation program.) Need help finding the download? | |
| C. | TagIt requires Paradox 10 Runtime. This database engine is available as a free download. It is only useful with the TagIt program files. This is a large file (39 MB). (If you have previously used TagItLite, you probably have this program already and do not need to download it again.) | |
| Save the download to your computer. The file name is pdx10run.exe. Run the Paradox 10 Runtime installation program. Use the default directories. Need help finding the download? Are you having trouble with the download? | ||

| D. | Vista or Windows 7? The Vista and Windows 7 operating systems require several additional steps. It is highly recommended that you set the compatibility mode to XP. | |
| E. | Start TagIt after downloading and installing both of these two essential components by clicking on the TagIt icon on your desktop or by selecting TagIt from your start menu. Did you get an error message? | |
| F. | Sale Profiles. Download a sale profile if you are a consignor at a participating consignment sale. Save the file where you can find it later. (The file name differs from sale to sale but usually includes the name of the sale, a date, and the state abbreviation and is a compressed zip file.) A good place is in c:\program files\tagit which is the default root directory of the program. From TagIt click on Import Sale Profile and select this file. | |
| G. | Barcodes. Are you a consignor in a sale using barcodes? If so, you need to download and install a barcode font. Click here for instructions. | |
| H. | Using the program. Watching the video on this web site is a good way to get an overview of the program. | |
| Recommendation: It is always a good idea to enter a few items and test print a page or two of tags to see if everything is set up correctly. If you have trouble, see printing issues. | ||
| I. | Upgrading from TagItLite? You may be able to transfer items from TagItLite to TagIt. | |
| J. | Export Inventory. Some sales will ask consignors to send an electronic copy of their completed inventory to the sale as an email attachment. This helps the sale track inventory more closely and provides more detailed reporting to the consignor after the sale. | |
| If the sale requests, click on the Export button on the Selected Sale/Tags tab. You may be asked to fill in contact information. Note the name and directory of the resulting compressed file. Send the file as an email attachment to the sale. Trouble finding the export file? | ||
| K. | Backup: Since computer crashes do happen or you may decide to upgrade your computer in the future, it is a good idea to copy the installation files to some other media. See our replacement policy. You can also create a backup file of your TagIt data from the File menu. | |
